Why Censorship Is So Important

by Michael Gregory Steele and Herman B. Hayes

You may have noticed that we have started moderating all comments on this blog. In the past couple days we have received comments that we didn’t like from people whose views do not mesh with the overall mission of Conservatives for American Values. Those fools have now been silenced.

I don’t think we need to justify this decision to anyone, but I would like to give my readers a taste of the type of comments that have polluted this blog (their names have been changed for their own protection):
firearmz said: You are not Christians, I am a Christian. You will go to hell, I will not go to hell. You are bad, I am good.
This is probably the most absurd thing I have ever read. I’m not a Christian? I am the measure by which all other Christians should be judged. You claim to be a Christian, yet you do not believe fully in the principles of conservatism that Jesus teaches. Me go to hell? Not unless God wants to send me down there to help torture all the liberals that have ended up there.
the inebriated Japanese warrior said: You guys are insane. I am a conservative and you’re making all of us look bad.
Yes, I make all of you look bad but only by comparison. I am an unabashed conservative, untainted by the disease of moderateness. You, on the other hand, are a weak-kneed coward who is afraid to stand up for the true principles of the Republican Party. I do shame you, but only because you’re a pale imitation of a conservative.

Another issue with allowing comments to be posted without our approval is that a comment can remain up for hours without Herman or I having the chance to address it. This gives liberals an opportunity to present subversive or depraved ideas such as the ones presented above before we can rhetorically rip them to shreds. This puts our readers at risk of succumbing to the twisted ideology of liberalism. I cannot let that stand!

You may disagree with our decision, but luckily for those true conservatives who understand the importance of censorship, we won’t have to read your idiotic complaints about it anymore.

I think moderating the comments is a great idea. I know I was feeling almost as uncomfortable having to sift through all the invasive liberal propaganda as I do when I visit my brother's house and his Afro-American neighbor waves at me.

Thanks to both of you and your strong moral fiber. What most readers don't understand is that there is no need to "comment." It is enough to simply read and obey.

If more people would stop thinking of clever comments, and stop thinking in general, this world would be a much better place.

I intend to find a place of respect for you on my blogroll, Gentlemen.

I must say, I have never, EVER read a conservative blog that makes such good points as to why I should question my liberalism. I wouldn't say that I have been converted, or even swayed to do so, but this is the very first conservative blog I have ever seen in my life which presents thoughtful, intelligent, Patriotic, and well-meaning "conservaspeak". While I shall remain firmly "Liberal", it is great to know there are still some REAL "conservatives" out here in the bloggosphere.

I'd like to see you match "rageagainsttheright", and put together a list of Democratic crimes and fraud.

I am a moderate, the kind you seem to dislike most. On my blog I attack both the left and the right.

Moderating for vulger speech and hate is one thing, cutting off opposing ideas is cowardly.

gun-toting liberal: Maybe when you die the mere act of considering becoming a Conservative (see also: a decent human being) will be enough to get you into heaven. This is unlikely though because I'm pretty sure God hates liberals just as much as I do.

papamoka: What opposition? I certainly don't see any opposition here :)

Look, you can talk about how great freedom of speech is all you want, but the truth is that if we could stop liberals from screaming and crying about everything maybe we could actually get something done in this country.

Without those whiney crybabies we could actually do something about gay marriage and win this war in Iraq too while we're at it.

Coming from the center, you shouldn't be surprised that I think you are a cry-baby from the right. I enjoy the laughs I get from both sides.

Social issues are not the most pressing issues we have today. So why are the Republicans spending time on them (same sex marriage, flag burning, abortion and the like)?

You might be surprised that I agree with the conservatives on these issues, I just don't believe they are our priorities right now.

Jesus? Conservative? And pray, tell me, which of the many versions of “The Bible” did you find that in? As I understand it, Jesus preached peace, love, understanding and tolerance. Conservatives such as yourself, Mr. Steele (and your long time male friend Mr. Hayes) feel you can only prosper through war, hate, ignorance and intolerance. I would be very surprised if Jesus supported your views. Either of you. All I can say is, “Good luck in Hell.”

You know I'm not the judgmental type, but it sounds like this Wayne guy has some sort of homosexual agenda going on. This makes me very uncomfortable. While I would never question your judgment, just out of curiosity why did you allow his hate filled comment through? Is it so we can recognize the hatred being spewed by the fag community? I don't know about everyone else, but there isn't a day that goes by that I'm not assaulted in some way be these vicious monsters. While they've never spoken directly to me, their looks say it all. I AM NOT A PIECE OF MEAT!!!

wayne a. schneider: So you'd like to know where the mentions of conservatism are in the Bible.

Ok, the first step is to actually read it, then we can move past these elementary questions. After this, assuming you haven't misinterpretted every word (a rather large assumption, I know) it will be clear as day to you.

"Maybe when you die the mere act of considering becoming a Conservative (see also: a decent human being) will be enough to get you into heaven.

Sorry man... I've thought about it and thought about it, but was stopped today at the realization that I was correct: Jesus WAS a Liberal. His Father was a Conservative, but after realizing the errors of His ways, sent his one and only Liberal Son down to the Earth to help stomp out Conservatism. Read the Bible - it's there - you cannot miss it if you tried.

God said "Women shall not wear hats in church" and told us to murder helpless animals to atone for our sins. Then His Son Jesus arrived on Earth to tell us to pay our taxes and leave the hookers alone - even told one to stop being a hooker and that was the end of that conversation.

Sounds like my own dad and I, frankly. Except, unlike God, my Earthly father hasn't yet acknowledged that I am the one who is correct and it is HE who is mistaken about his politics. Perhaps, since we are ALL made in God's image, my own dad will have the same Revelation our Heavenly Father had, and will encourage me to tour the world to speak on his own behalf and to "cool things down a bit" for him.

robert sette: Truth be told, you liberals have nothing to contribute to this conversation or to this country. You may have a right to say what you want but I also have a right to ignore all of it.

If you have a problem with it, go cry to the ACLU.

gun toting-liberal: I've heard this one before. "Jesus was a progressive, he taught love and peace, hugged trees, etc."

I certainly can't deny that I do prefer God the Father's "leave no heathen un-smitten" style to the more subdued style of Jesus. But as you know, the older you grow the more like your father you become. I'm pretty certain by now Jesus is ready to level some cities and smite some unbelievers, just like his dear old dad.

jurrassicpork: Yes it seems that one of your comments was censored. If only I had written a post giving you warning that I might do something like this.

Oh dear God, PLEASE let this be a parody blog.

For awhile I thought this might be the real thing, but Mr. Steele's self-righteousness and blind hatred of liberals is not quite the same as a real conservative's. It's "tweaked" just a little bit. It's either a brilliantly subtle satire or the most god-awful tripe I've ever read. Either way, I support your right to spew brilliance/insanity since the very ambiguity of this site is an argument for why we shouldn't go around censoring things willy-nilly.

"Why Censorship Is So Important"

because the scenery only changes with the lead dog. Those of you who would blindly support anyone who proudly employs censorship of opposing views are beholden to the viewpoint of the site moderator and as such, relenquish any sense of objectivity. You might as well stick cotton in your ears, cover your eyes and repeatedly chant La La La La until you pass out.

Herman B. Hayes, I'm rather sure I didn't mention anything about God sending me to Hell. I know that he would do it. But, that's not what I was talking about. I just mentioned on how everyone was talking about religon, but America isn't a Christain country. And for he record, I don't hide behind my teddy bear and my "toys" when I get in trouble. (I face them and take the punishment.) I don't even have toys anymore. I'm sorry, I should've let it go, but it annoyed me and I felt that I had to reply. (It looks like you think I'm older, but I'm really 14. The reason I'm on sites like these, is to get different oppinions than the ones I always hear around me.)

Censorship in America? Where are you from? You can not be American. When you say Censorship for American Values, you slap America's Founders, you step on the men and women that have died for the freedom you wish to abolish. You have confused the word America with the word Christianity. Which in America we are a Nation of many Religions. If you wish to live in a place that will cherish your censorship, You should go there, but please do not try to destroy my Country, my Freedom, and my Pursuit of Happiness. I think you should read the Declaration of Independence, it is a good read, in fact everyone should read it. Have a great Independence Day!
