The Election and the Gay Problem

by Michael Gregory Steele and Herman B. Hayes

We’ve got a problem, my conservative compatriots - a big gay problem. Given all the homosexual Republican stories in the news lately I think you know exactly what I’m talking about. Now this particular problem won’t be solved by you sitting home on Tuesday and sulking. We all need to get out and do our civic duty by voting Republican and suppressing Democratic votes when the opportunity presents itself. Don’t let a couple news stories about guerrilla sodomites within the conservative ranks influence the outcome of this election. You wouldn’t let a homosexual cut your hair so why would you let one of them influence who is chosen to be your representatives for Congress?

I admit that it’s discouraging to see all the negative stories about Republicans being reported in the news lately. It’s not so much the stories of influence peddling and corrupt lobbyists that really bother me. I’m a businessman myself and I know that making a living can get legally complicated sometimes. You know I’m not looking to criminalize success here. I would have no problem looking the other way if I saw a Republican official taking a bribe, but if I caught this same official oiled up and wrestling with another man in his office then I would look the other way only so I could find a trashcan to vomit into. From there I would do everything in my power to destroy him.

It’s the news stories that involve conservatives and gay sex that really hurt the most.

In fact, this recent story about the now former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, Ted Haggard, and his alleged engagement in a homosexually gay coital love tryst with an equally gay prostitute has deeply upset me. It’s especially distressing because of how often Haggard communicated with the White House and how hard he fought for Christian values. He may have seemed like such a morally upright individual but I guess he fooled us. I’m most upset that he allowed this to happen at a time when it’s so politically inconvenient for the Republicans, but I guess it just goes to show that gay men are concerned about sex above all else (ok, so I already knew that).

I admit that the Republican Party has a very serious problem. This Haggard story coupled with the recent scandal surrounding former Representative Mark Foley and those congressional pages makes this abundantly clear. We all know that there are far too many gays masquerading as Republicans within the Party of God and that their very presence undermines our collective moral authority. I understand that dealing with this gay problem is incredibly important but it’s not the only issue we have to consider this Tuesday.

We can all work on purging the Republican Party of homos after this election is won. Right now we need to ensure that Republicans retain control of Congress. I shouldn’t need to remind anyone that we are still engaged in a war against Islamofacists who want to kill us. The Republicans are the only ones equipped to stand up to the terrorists and to keep us alive and I think you know that.

If you’re still thinking of staying home then maybe you should consider the following scene:

Osama Bin Ladin enters the voting booth so that he can do his part to ensure a big win for the Democratic Party. He smiles as he dreams of an America without the strong Republican leadership necessary to foil his sinister terrorist plots. Liberals in power would mean no more War on Terror and nobody to stand in his way. A great sadness fills Osama’s heart though as he soon realizes that Americans would never be foolish enough to leave themselves so vulnerable. Osama hangs his head dejectedly as he turns around to exit his voting booth. Then without speaking Mark Foley and Ted Haggard slip into the booth alongside the soulless jihadist. Both gay “conservatives” begin stroking Osama’s course beard and sensuously rubbing his broad shoulders. Foley then guides Osama’s hand back to the voting machine with his firm yet gentle grip. The lever drops and Osama’s vote is cast. America’s fate is sealed.

We can’t allow the Democrats/terrorists to win next week and we shouldn’t let the gays influence this election. So vote Republican on Tuesday and I promise you that we’ll start working on this gay problem come Wednesday.

Excuse me. I have a problem with you posting "Pegan Temple"'s page. Why would you give that lame-o free advertising. Take it down. It's just retarded. Besides, Pegan Temple doesn't even know how to read and is probably gay. I'm serious! I want that link down. Thanks

Although you need to realize that the "Blogroll of Iniquity" is a place of scorn and contempt. If Pagan Temple is in fact as gay and retarded as you say then that's exactly where a link to his site belongs.

Allow me to engage in just enough free advertising of my lame-o site and self to assure you that I am doing my part, on my most recent post, which is about the good Brother Haggard, to insure that he has a new religion to come to that would be more to his liking and inclination.

"The Pegan Temple":

Doing my part to cleanse the ranks of the Party of God. (Now if we can only figure out a way to get rid of all the secret "man on dog" lovers, the GOP might be as close to perfect as humanly possible).

I think this story takes from the real issues. What are we going to do with the abortionists, mexicans, jews and poor people? These people are far worse than any mere destroyer of only marriage. These jokers destroy marriage, life and your pay check!!!!!

You know, that fantasy involving Haggard and Mark Foley is truly scary. Someone should suggest the idea to Lynne Cheney. Maybe she'll include a torrid gay sex scene in her next novel and then deny it on television.

Not that much of anything you say has any actual relevance to real life, Mr. Michael Gregory Steele, but you may be surprised to learn that sex is about the farthest thing from many gay men's minds. (With the possible exception of young gays, who do not differ from straights in that regard -- sex at that age is front-of-mind for anyone -- straight, gay, or whatever.)

Do you not smell the dank odor of hypocrisy in saying that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry or form any sort of lasting relationship whatsoever -- then accusing gays (falsely) of only being interested only in sex??? Well, let's see here -- if marriage wasn't an option for straight America either -- how would straights be occupying their time? Chances are, the exact same way gays do now -- working honest jobs to earn a living, volunteering to help our communities, and spending quality time with close friends and family.

As a gay man in a loving, committed 14-year relationship, sex typically is about #100 on my list of "things to do" each week....in fact, there are many, many weeks, occasionally entire months, when it doesn't even make the top 100 list, so doesn't it happen at all. Get over your stereotype -- either you know better, or you think readers of this forum are so stupid they won't. Which is it?

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. You, me, them, Foley, Haggard. We will all face the judgement. So, when it happens, don't think anybody else or their sins will spare you. If you don't have a sacrifice you shall be judged for your sin. Do you think these men evil and demented. Such are we all unless we are given to repent and turn from your wicked ways. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. These things being the good works of God. For apart from him you are dead and will end up in hell on the Day of the Lord. the Word of God has spoken this. Except, none of you believe.
Therefore the sorrows of this and more will come upon you.

I am a married man with three successful sons, none which are gay,but we have several gay friends, men and woman, also we have many gay customers who shop at our store.I must tell you that these human beings are some of the nicest, most considerate, non biased folks I have ever met.Two of which are very intelligent scientists, and three that are doctors.Being gay has nothing to do with being non human or dirty, sick or stupid, its just a choice of companionship and liking the same sex other than opposite sex.I would drather have them as friends than you,I can tell by reading your article that you could never be trusted.People have the right to choose what they wear, what they eat, what they drive, what occupation they wish to persue and whether they are gay or not, that is in a free country of course.Obviously not in (your) country. With your ignorant, insensitive comments ,you show your true colours, how biased, predjudiced and narrow minded you are.I feel sorry for you and people like you.Maybe you should live outside that fishbowl you live in and find out what real life and real people are all about. It is sure nice to know that most USA Americans don't think like you.

I didn't choose to be homosexual, I got over God in high school, and the Republican party during the Nixon fiasco (yes, I know I am slow) and I don't think about sex anymore than anyone whose choices are limited (every 8 or 10 seconds and lurid ain't in it, hah!). I have lived all over the country during a military career, but mostly in Bible-belt communities and I have seen the damage that discrimination against any minority has on society and occasionally what a more libertarian (socially, at least) point of view has on people. Religious strictures from all religions have a negative effect on society as do draconian drug laws and inferiority complexes, just look at W. Until we have a more educated and enlightened populace I don't see that the future has much improvement in it. I will vote Democratic tomorrow, but I think our government is basically broken and at least the house divided can cause less damage......

I always wonder if conservatives just find it too frightening to admit that life is messy and complicated. Even the ones that are gay would rather believe in what their family has taught them than to acknowledge what they know to be true about themselves. If you'll allow yourself a bit of quiet reflection as a human being who can think (and feel) for himself, you might discover that it feels better to let go of all of the hatred and fear. I dare you. All you have to lose is the delusion of superiority.

but it might be slightly bigger than your understanding of democrazy...

"gays masquerading as Republicans within the Party of God"

first of all i would like to ask you a simple question. at what age did you choose to be straight and what influenced your choice?

second... do you really think it's worse for a politician to be gay than corrupted? that's just to twisted for me to understand.

and then... i liked the story about bin laden voting in america. it shows how deep you belive in the idea of freedom for all, even if i can see that you have a long way to fully understanding it.

and last... god is bisexual. he loves both men and women.

The latest bleatings in the press only serve to re-enforce what most of us suspected all along. The conservative Christian right has and always will be populated by a large number of sexually repressed individuals who are trying in vain to come to grips with their issues of confusion toward sexuality. The first step toward recoverery is to admit you are powerless over your addiction.

Reverend Steele, I must confess that I find myself somewhat in agreement with Anonymoous at 10:50 p.m. of November 6th. He makes a good point, in that gay people can't really help being gay.

Therefore, I think it's incumbent on us all to show them some degree of compassion and understanding. After all, who knows what made them that way?

For example, it's pretty much a known fact that many gay men-maybe even the vast majority if not all of them- became that way because of being molested by their fathers.

And Christian conservatives like you are trying to keep it that way and make it harder on them. However, Thank God the democrats prevailed yesterday, so that we can get working on fixing that problem. I am appalled at what I read from you on this site. You are cruel, hypocritical, ignorant, judgemental and sick and I don't know what you're so angry about. What did gay people ever do to you? Absolutely nothing. They are entitled to all of the same rights and priveledges in their private lives that you are entitled to in your narrowminded Pagan private life. Homosexuals are some of the nicest, most sincere, most loving and compassionate people I've ever come across. And its not about sex. Its about companionship and loving someone of your own gender as a spouse, about finding a life partner. You just don't get it and I'm sure you never will. But that is ok with me as long as you go mind your own business and focus on fixing your own problems, rather than trying to push down innocent people in a world filled with so many other idiots like yourself.

It had all the earmarks of a classic Democratic Party plan to depress Republican
turnout. Take a barely disguised homosexual Republican Congressman, add
salacious electronic messages that included twink pictures, sex and other
lurid flourishes, push the story to their eager and willing accomplices in the media
right before an election, and as quick as you can say LBJ an instant
scandal is created. The only problem, it seems, is that in today's world
of media, with data available to horny twinks that was heretofore
available only to a select few, the plan didn't work out quite the way
they had expected. Enterprising bloggers have done the elemental
detective work and discovered that the entire incident is nearly exactly
the opposite of what was first reported.

Rather than a case of a pedophile Congressman stalking young men in
the corridors of power, it instead turns out to be a case of a closeted
homosexual nurturing a relationship with twink boys , and making
sexual advances once he became an adult. A relationship by the way
that the young man, if he felt threatened or chose not to continue,
could have ended at any time.
